Glutathione is a tripeptide (Glu-Cys-Gly) produced continuously inside every cell in your body. First isolated from yeast in 1888 and characterized at Cambridge by Nobel laureate Frederick Gowland Hopkins in the 1920s, it is the most abundant antioxidant in human cells. Modern research — including Rajagopal Sekhar's clinical work on glutathione deficiency in aging at Baylor College of Medicine — has studied its role in three foundational pathways: redox balance, phase-II detoxification, and mitochondrial protection.

Unlike antioxidant supplements that add a compound from outside the cell and hope it reaches the right place, glutathione is not a substitute for your antioxidant system — it is your antioxidant system. Vitamin C and vitamin E both depend on it to be regenerated after neutralizing a free radical. Taken orally it is under 1% bioavailable, because gut enzymes cleave the tripeptide apart before absorption; delivered as an injection, the intact molecule reaches circulation directly. It is self-administered at home, typically two to three times per week on an ongoing basis rather than in fixed cycles.

What patients report during a cycle:

  • Better recovery and steadier day-to-day energy within the first two to four weeks
  • Less impact from high-load weeks — travel, alcohol, short sleep, hard training
  • Clearer skin and more even tone over eight to twelve weeks, the window used in clinical trials

Available strengths:

  • 200 mg/mL × 30 mL vial (6,000 mg total) — best value for a full ongoing protocol
  • 200 mg/mL × 10 mL vial (2,000 mg total) — starter size for a first cycle or lighter maintenance

Every Glutathione prescription is reviewed by a licensed physician and dispensed through an FDA-registered, NABP- and LegitScript-accredited compounding pharmacy. Published clinical protocols commonly fall in the 600–1,400 mg per session range; your physician sets your dose. Refrigerate at 2–8°C and protect from light. Use within 28 days of first puncture.

Glutathione is not FDA-approved as a finished pharmaceutical product. It is a compounded preparation, prescribed following a clinical evaluation. Not appropriate for those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or with known hypersensitivity to glutathione. Patients with asthma, significant liver or kidney impairment, or who are undergoing chemotherapy require physician evaluation before starting. Individual results vary.

The Science

What is Glutathione?

Glutathione is a tripeptide built from three amino acids — glycine, cysteine and glutamate — and it is the most abundant antioxidant inside your cells. It does three jobs at once: it neutralizes the free radicals produced by normal metabolism, it recycles vitamins C and E back into their active forms so they can keep working, and it powers the liver's phase-II conjugation pathway, the step that makes fat-soluble compounds water-soluble so your body can clear them. Your cells make glutathione continuously, but production falls with age and gets depleted faster under oxidative load — alcohol, poor sleep, hard training, medication burden, air quality, and chronic stress all draw down the same reserve.

The reason glutathione is delivered by injection rather than a capsule is bioavailability. Taken orally, glutathione is under 1% bioavailable — gut enzymes cleave the tripeptide apart before it can be absorbed intact, so what reaches your bloodstream is loose amino acids rather than functional glutathione. An injection bypasses digestion entirely and delivers the intact molecule straight into circulation. Our formulation is compounded at 200 mg/mL, so a 10ml vial carries 2,000 mg and a 30ml vial carries 6,000 mg of glutathione.

Why It Matters

Why Glutathione is different.

Most antioxidant supplements work from the outside in — you add a compound and hope it reaches the cells that need it. Glutathione is different because it is not a substitute for your antioxidant system; it IS your antioxidant system. Restoring glutathione is restoring the capacity your cells already know how to use, which is why it sits upstream of almost every other antioxidant you could take. Vitamin C and vitamin E both depend on glutathione to be regenerated after they neutralize a free radical.

It also fits your life instead of your calendar. Glutathione has historically meant booking a drip at a clinic, sitting for an hour, and paying $150 to $400 a visit. Here it arrives at your door as a multi-dose vial you use at home on the schedule your physician sets, with two sizes so your supply matches your protocol rather than the other way around. Every vial is compounded by an FDA-registered pharmacy and prescribed after a licensed physician reviews your health history.

Benefits of Glutathione Therapy

Neutralizes Free Radicals

Glutathione directly quenches the reactive oxygen species your cells generate every day, protecting DNA, proteins and cell membranes from oxidative damage.

Powers Liver Detox Pathways

It drives phase-II conjugation, the step your liver uses to bind fat-soluble compounds so they can be cleared rather than stored.

Brighter, Clearer Complexion

By reducing oxidative stress in skin tissue, glutathione supports a more even tone and a less dull, more luminous complexion.

Immune Cell Function

Lymphocytes require adequate glutathione to proliferate and respond; depleted glutathione is associated with blunted immune performance.

Faster Recovery From Physical Stress

Hard training generates oxidative load. Restoring glutathione supports the clearance of that load so recovery is not the bottleneck.

Mitochondrial Protection

Mitochondria produce the most free radicals and are the most vulnerable to them. Glutathione is the primary defense that keeps them running efficiently.

Is It Right For You?

Who Glutathione Is For

High Oxidative-Load Lifestyles

Frequent alcohol, heavy travel, poor air quality, intense training and short sleep all draw from the same antioxidant reserve. If several of those describe your week, you are spending glutathione faster than you are making it.

Dull Skin & Visible Aging (35+)

Glutathione production declines with age, and skin is often where that shows first: uneven tone, lost luminosity, texture changes. Restoring it addresses the oxidative side of how skin ages rather than only the surface.

Liver, Metabolic & Detox Support

If you carry a real dietary, alcohol or medication load, or you are focused on metabolic health, glutathione supports the conjugation pathways your liver depends on to keep clearing what it processes.

What Our Patients Say

"My skin was looking flat and tired no matter what I put on it. About six weeks in, my wife noticed before I did — the dullness was gone and my tone looked a lot more even. That was not even the reason I started."

Clearer, More Even Tone
— M.R., 43, using Glutathione for 3 months

"I travel four days a week and I drink more than I should at client dinners. I used to lose the day after. Now I bounce back like I am ten years younger. That alone was worth it."

Recovery & Resilience
— T.A., 38, using Glutathione for 4 months

"I was doing drip appointments every couple of weeks and it was eating $300 a month plus an afternoon. Doing it at home on my own schedule means I actually stay consistent, and consistency is where I finally saw a difference."

Consistency Without the Clinic
— J.L., 47, using Glutathione for 6 months

Bioavailability. An injection bypasses digestion entirely and delivers the intact molecule straight into circulation.

Both are compounded at 200 mg/mL. The 10ml carries 2,000 mg total and is the starter size, useful for your first cycle or a lighter maintenance protocol. The 30ml carries 6,000 mg and is the best-value size for a full ongoing protocol. Your physician will recommend which one fits your dosing.

Antioxidant and recovery effects are often reported within the first two to four weeks. Skin clarity and tone are slower and are typically assessed over eight to twelve weeks, which is the window clinical trials use. Individual results vary.

It reduces oxidative stress in skin tissue, which is associated with a more even tone and a less dull, more luminous complexion. Think of it as supporting the health and clarity of the skin you have rather than altering it. Results build gradually and vary between individuals.

Something specific, not a marketing word. Glutathione is the substrate for phase-II conjugation in the liver: it binds to fat-soluble compounds and makes them water-soluble so they can be excreted rather than stored in tissue.

Intense physical stress raises oxidative load, and clearing that load is part of recovery. Restoring glutathione supports that process. Many patients report better day-to-day energy, though this varies from person to person.

A licensed physician reviews your health history, goals and current medications and prescribes a protocol. Published clinical protocols commonly fall in the 600 to 1,400 mg per session range, two to three times weekly. Do not adjust your dose on your own.

Most commonly injection-site discomfort, redness or swelling, and occasionally nausea or flushing. Allergic reactions are rare but possible; seek immediate medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling or a rash.

Glutathione is not an FDA-approved drug product. It is a compounded preparation, prepared for you by an FDA-registered compounding pharmacy under a valid prescription, which is a well-established and legal pathway. It is dispensed only after a licensed physician determines it is appropriate for you.

People with known hypersensitivity to glutathione, people with asthma, and anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding, as there is insufficient safety data in pregnancy. Patients with significant liver or kidney impairment need a physician evaluation first.

Tell your physician about everything you take. Long-term use may affect zinc status, and chemotherapy agents in particular warrant a conversation with your oncologist before starting.

Keep it refrigerated at 36 to 46°F (2 to 8°C) and protect it from light. Once the vial is first punctured, use it within 28 days, or by the beyond-use date printed on your label, whichever comes first. Do not freeze.

Yes. It is commonly stacked with NAD+, B-vitamin complexes and peptide protocols. Confirm the combination with your physician before starting, especially if you take prescription medications.

Nothing abrupt. Your glutathione returns to the level your own production supports, and the benefits tied to elevated levels gradually fade. There is no dependency and no taper required.
